2023 Auto Expo Day 2: All launches and unveils here
Day 2 of the Auto Expo 2022 was a little calmer in comparison to the first day. Not a whole lot of automakers introduced new vehicles. However, the country’s largest PV manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) took the spotlight and introduced two of its long-awaited SUVs – the Fronx (YTB Baleno Cross) and the five-door Jimny. Other automakers that debuted a few new vehicles on the second day were the British automaker MG, Tata Motors, and the Japanese luxury carmaker Lexus.
Maruti Suzuki
First and foremost Maruti Suzuki showcased the highly anticipated Fronx premium crossover SUV at the show on the second day. The Fronx after being in talks for a good few months finally broke cover and was exactly as expected. Maruti Suzuki displayed the baby Grand Vitara based on the Baleno hatchbacks HEARTECT platform.
The Fronx on the exterior is heavily inspired by the mid size Grand Vitara and on the inside looks almost identical to the Baleno. Its gets a unique aerodynamic design. In terms of powertrain it gets a turbo-petrol engine of 1.0 litre which was first offered with the now discontinued Baleno RS. This engine at 5,500 rpm, produces a maximum power of 100 PS and a maximum torque of 147.6 Nm. It also comes with the option a 1.2-liter K-Series engine, on the other hand, which has a maximum power output of 89.73 PS and a maximum torque output of 113 Nm.
